The debate over AI continues, and as a result, semiconductor ETFs are seeing strong trading volume. Some are buying, others are selling. The election in Brazil has also drawn attention to Latin America. Commodities and cryptocurrencies are also in the spotlight.October 13, 2026. FRANKFURT (Deutsche Börse). Semiconductor stocks, oil, gold—ETF trading revolves around familiar themes, but there’s always something new as well. Currently, the spotlight is on Brazilian stocks. Maurice Mohnfeld of Lang & Schwarz has observed significant interest in them following the first round of the presidential election just over a week ago. The São Paulo Stock Exchange index jumped nearly 8 percent to a new record high after Flavio Bolsonaro—who is considered business-friendly—performed well.“It was all buying,” Mohnfeld notes. Examples include the iShares MSCI Brazil (<DE000A0Q4R85>, <IE00B0M63516>), as well as the Xtrackers MSCI EM Latin America (<LU0292108619>), which covers all of Latin America. Otherwise, trading in equity ETFs is business as usual. Most trading involves global, U.S., and European indices, with both inflows and outflows. For the Deka DAX (<DE000ETFL011>), however, Ivo Orlemann of ICF Bank reports almost exclusively sales. The DAX has recovered since slipping below the 25,000-point mark last Thursday and stood at 25,440 points on Tuesday afternoon. U.S. stock markets are trading just below their all-time highs. The ETFs with the highest trading volume on Xetra in September were the iShares Core Euro Stoxx (<DE0005933956>), the Vanguard FTSE All-World (<IE00BK5BQT80>), the iShares Core MSCI World (<IE00B4L5Y983>), and the Amundi Core Stoxx Europe 600 (<LU0908500753>). The first sector ETF on the list is the VanEck Semiconductor (<IE00BMC38736>) in seventh place.Read more: cashmarket.deutsche-boerse.comIndex or Stock with LeverageETNs that track indices or individual stocks with leverage are becoming increasingly popular among Lang & Schwarz’s trading-savvy clientele. “Tech indices and stocks are particularly in demand,” explains Mohnfeld, who expects even more interest in these products ahead of the upcoming quarterly earnings reports. The Leverage Shares 4x Long Semiconductors (<XS2779861082>), for example, is currently seeing strong trading volume on Xetra, while Nvidia, Micron, and Tesla stand out among individual stocks. Strong third quarter. The European ETF market is on track for inflows of 127 billion euros in the third quarter following a record year, according to issuer Amundi. Equity ETFs recorded inflows of nearly 100 billion euros, led by ETFs tracking all-country and traditional developed-market global indices (29 and 26 billion euros). Also extremely popular: gold ETCs, with net inflows of over 10 billion euros. “This exceeds the best annual inflows from 2022, which totaled 7.6 billion euros,” explains Amundi.Semiconductor Stocks: Still Seeing Strong Buying InterestAccording to Mohnfeld, interest in semiconductor stocks remains strong among sector ETFs, such as the iShares MSCI Global Semiconductors (<IE000I8KRLL9>). Orlemann, however, reports more sales for the Defiance Memory semiconductor ETF from HANetf (<IE000CEUZ052>), which was launched just this past June. Also no longer as popular among ICF clients: the VanEck Defense (<IE000YYE6WK5>). It has lost about 20 percent of its value since its all-time high in January.Traders Are Betting on Oil—or Cryptocurrencies“Oil and gold ETCs are our top sellers,” Orlemann adds. He notes consistently high trading volumes in the triple-leveraged WisdomTree Brent Crude Oil 3x Daily Short (XS3306517098). Also popular are the Invesco Physical Gold EUR Hedged (<XS2183935274>) and the WisdomTree Physical Silver (<JE00B1VS3333>), while the WisdomTree Physical Swiss Gold (<JE00B588CD74>) is “almost exclusively being sold.”According to Mohnfeld, trading in crypto-ETNs is also very active. Bitcoin currently costs just under $84,000; during the summer months, it hovered around $63,000 for a long time. “Now the focus is more on the second and third tiers,” Mohnfeld notes. One example: the Bitwise NEAR Staking (<DE000A4A5GV2>). ◄Previous►NextBy Anna-Maria Borse, October 9, 2026, © Deutsche Börse AG About the Author Anna-Maria Borse is a finance and business editor specializing in financial markets, the stock market, and economic issues.Feedback and questions to live@deutsche-boerse.com
