Global Dairy Trade acts as a platform on which weekly auctions of dairy products are held and the dynamics of the composite Global Dairy Trade Price Index is calculated. The index includes 8 components: dehydrated milk fat, butter, buttermilk (skim cream), skim milk powder, cheddar cheese, lactose, whey powder, whole milk powder. The weights of the components in the index are determined by the provider. Product providers are mainly dairy producers from around the world. Auction bidders are companies that use these products in the food industry. The prices obtained at the auction serve as a certain global indicator for the dairy products market.
