Consumer price index characterizes the change in time of the general level of prices for goods and services purchased by the population. It measures the ratio of the cost of a fixed list of goods and services in prices of the current period to its cost in prices of the previous (base) period, which is equated to 100. The base period is the 2nd quarter of 2012, without seasonal adjustment.
