Consumer opinion surveys are carried out to obtain qualitative information for use in monitoring the current economic situation. The sampling of households for the survey of consumer expectations of the population is based on the sample of households that is created for the households budget survey on the principles of random selection and reflects the socio-economic and demographic structure of all types of households excluding the collective ones. The index is compiled as the average of the following components: 1. changes of the economic situation in Russia, current and expected; 2. changes in the personal financial situation, current and expected; and, 3. favorable conditions for large purchases. An example of a question asked to compile this indicator is: \"How do you expect the general economic situation in this country to develop over the next 12 months? It will (++) get a lot better (+) get a little better (=) stay the same (-) get a little worse (--) get a lot worse (N) don\'t know. The confidence indicator is expressed as the balance of positive over negative results (in % points). The confidence indicator is constructed with double weights on the extremes. Responses “a lot better” and “a lot worse” get the weight 1 and “ a little better” and “ a little worse” get the weight 1/2, and “the same” has zero weight. The last observation is dated Q3 2022.
