The bullish sentiment on the stock markets continues. Global index funds are particularly popular, and financial stocks are gaining importance. In the technology sector, however, their dominance is waning somewhat. Precious metals and mining stocks are having a strong week.August 11, 2026. FRANKFURT (Deutsche Börse). The bull market on the stock exchanges continues, and numerous stock ETFs are trading at all-time highs. Trading activity is correspondingly brisk. Frank Mohr of Société Générale reports a relatively high number of trades and volumes currently about twice as high as usual for this time of year. Holger Heinrich of Baader Bank AG notes about 40 percent more purchases than sales.Interest in global index funds has been particularly strong in recent days, partly due to the execution of savings plan transactions at the beginning of the month. In this segment, the broker is recording twice as many purchases as sales. The biggest beneficiary is the iShares Core MSCI World (<IE00B4L5Y983>). “We’re seeing an extremely high volume of trades here,” explains Mohr.Heinrich reports buying interest in global equity ETFs with a focus on value and dividends, citing the Dimensional Global Targeted Value (<IE000S67ID55>) as an example. On the selling side are the Invesco MSCI World Universal Screened (<IE00BJQRDK83>) and the Amundi MSCI World ESG Broad Transition (<IE000PB4LRO2>). Sven Seipp of ICF Bank sees brisk demand for the distributing VanEck Morningstar Developed Markets Dividend Leaders (<NL0011683594>).U.S. and Europe Show Buying InterestMohr also notes a buying surplus for U.S. stocks, though it is weaker than in the global segment. In the blue-chip segment, the iShares Core S&P 500 (<IE00B5BMR087>) is particularly in demand. Seipp reports continued interest in the Nasdaq 100, particularly through the BNP Paribas Easy II Nasdaq 100 (<IE000QDFFK00>). Heinrich describes an overall balanced picture for the U.S. Among other funds, the Invesco RAFI US Fundamental Value (<IE00B23D8S39>) is being bought. He notes selling in the BNP Paribas Easy S&P 500 (<FR0011550680>) and the UBS MSCI USA Socially Responsible (<LU1280303014>).According to Mohr, European stocks are showing a slight net buying position. The Amundi Core STOXX Europe 600 (<LU0908500753>) and the iShares Core MSCI Europe (<IE00B4K48X80>) are in demand. Heinrich also sees inflows and highlights the iShares STOXX Europe Large 200 (<DE0005933980>) and the Invesco MSCI Europe Equal Weight (<IE000VDI16Q5>).Financial Stocks Are Gaining ImportanceTechnology remains the leading sector in ETF trading, though its dominance has waned. According to Mohr, the sector currently accounts for just over one-third of sector-specific trading volume. Buys and sells are nearly balanced, with a slight net outflow. Investors are selling the Xtrackers Artificial Intelligence & Big Data (<IE00BGV5VN51>) and the iShares S&P 500 Information Technology Sector (<IE00B3WJKG14>). In contrast, the iShares Digital Security (<IE00BG0J4C88>) is in demand.Mohr has noted growing interest in financial stocks, which have recently risen sharply. “Investors are buying across the board here,” explains the trader. Among the top picks are the STOXX Europe 600 Banks products from Amundi (<LU1834983477>) and iShares (<DE000A0F5UJ7>). The energy sector, the second-strongest segment, shows a slight net buying position. Mohr reports positions in the Invesco Morningstar US Energy Infrastructure (<IE00B94ZB998>). In light of the latest SpaceX earnings, the VanEck Space Innovators (<IE000YU9K6K2>) is also being actively traded, though without a clear direction. Seipp reports a strong comeback for defense stocks. Following the recent price increases, investors are increasingly taking profits here. This is evident in the VanEck Defense (<IE000YYE6WK5>) and the WisdomTree Europe Defense (<IE0002Y8CX98>). Frank MohrPrecious Metals and Mining Stocks in High DemandAccording to Seipp, progress in the negotiations with Iran has, for the time being, eased concerns about further interest rate hikes. As a result, precious metals posted their strongest week since January. Investors are buying both physically backed products and mining ETFs. Among the most sought-after gold products are the Invesco Physical Gold (<IE00B579F325>) and the Invesco Physical Gold EUR Hedged (<XS2183935274>). The Global X Silver Miners (<IE000UL6CLP7>) and the VanEck Gold Miners (<IE00BQQP9F84>) have also performed strongly.Demand for Bond ETFsMohr also sees buying interest in the bond market. The iShares Core EUR Govt Bond (<IE00B4WXJJ64>) and the Xtrackers II EUR Corporate Bond (<LU0478205379>) are frequently traded. This indicates that both government and corporate bonds are in demand. ◄Previous►NextBy Thomas Koch, August 11, 2026, © Deutsche Börse AG About the Author Thomas Koch is a CEFA investment analyst, investment specialist for structured products, and certified certificate advisor.
